Description

This is a very large Navajo “Old Pawn” Sunface Kachina Bolo with the hallmark of Jerry Roan. The cuffs on the arms of the Kachina move. Silver content is undetermined.

Navajo tribal native Jerry Roan (1919-1977) began silversmithing around 1968 and in 1969, he won a 1st place award at the Navajo Tribal Fair in Arizona. He was included in the 2002 exhibit “Jewels of the Southwest” at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, Santa Fe. His work is included in the collections of the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., and the Yellowhorse Museum in Paradise Valley, Arizona.

Excellent estate condition with patina appropriate for age.

Weighs approximately 4.81 ounces.

This came for a very fine Native American jewelry collection out of Southern Pines, North Carolina.
