Description
This is a Victorian memorial brooch with an elaborate frame and background. The hair inside the frame is in the prince of wales or feather design on top of a purple guilloche and with seed pearls.
The back is inscribed “In Memory of John William Taylor Obt. 23rd August 1846, at 67. M Richard Jos Martin, Obt. January 11th 1856 at 72”. This is the nicest piece of hair jewelry I have ever seen in person.
The brooch tests 19k and has no quality mark consistent with age.
Measures 2 x 1.7 inches and weighs 21.3 grams.
Very good estate condition.
